Future trends with Microsoft’s Director of envisioning

Today, Ian Sands from Microsoft held a presentation at Hyper Island. As Senior Director of Envisioning at Microsoft, Ian Sands is responsible for helping to define and articulate a 10 year vision for how technology could change our lives in the coming years.

Here are some quotations that I found particularly interesting:

“The computing experience today has changes a lot. 15-18 years ago it was non user-friendly. Today we have a world that has a layer on top of the technology that allows us to move freely around it without thinking what lies behind it. In 10 or even in 5 years there will be shift from graphical user interface to natural user interface. IPhone users can already experience it. They use their tactility to move around with. This is going to evolve. In the near future, everything around you will communicate with you, the world will become more responsive and smart. We’ll go back to being human again. Now we are adapting ourselves to fit technology. The big shift that is occurring is about technology adapted to us.”
